Custom software that makes complex work easier.
Meridian Data builds secure custom applications, automates manual processes and connects the tools your team relies on. You work directly with the engineer building your software, from the first conversation through launch.
Work with us
We build tools for the manual processes, scattered information and recurring bottlenecks that slow a team down. If one of these sounds familiar, let’s talk.
The process that lives in someone’s inbox
Approvals, sign-offs and requests tracked by email and memory. We turn them into a workflow everyone can see, with clear ownership, status and reminders.
Before Meridian: Tim automated 90+ business processes at a government services contractor, replacing paper signing workflows and cutting physical record storage by 30%.
Access permissions managed in a spreadsheet
Access requests, approvals and permissions managed by hand. We replace them with role-based access, automatic approval routing and a complete audit history.
Before Meridian: Tim built an access-governance platform used across several contractor organizations, replacing a sprawling access-tracking spreadsheet with structured records and approval history, without disrupting anyone’s access.
The expert everyone waits on
Answers, quotes or designs only one person knows how to put together. We capture that knowledge in a tool, so others can produce consistent results without relying on a specialist for every request.
Before Meridian: Tim built a tool that let staff configure infrastructure packages and generate cost estimates without waiting for a technical specialist.
Answers buried in hundreds of pages
Hundreds of pages of plans, minutes or records that hold the answers nobody has time to dig out. We use AI to extract and organize the information, with human review before it’s approved for use.
In Sextant Gov: comprehensive plans several hundred pages long become structured, trackable strategies, each one checked by a person.
How we work: one engineer from first conversation to launch, with no handoffs between sales, project managers and developers. Projects run the way Tim learned to run operations in the Army: a clear plan, visible progress, and early warning when something changes. And every project gets the same security practices as our own products, from the first line of code.

Sextant Gov™
For municipal government
Sextant Gov turns long-range plans into work an organization can assign, track and report on, organized around the departments, boards and committees that actually do it. Everyone from staff to the public can see what was promised and what's been done.
Sextant Gov grew out of Tim’s service on Winthrop, Maine’s Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee. Seeing how difficult it was to track progress from a written plan, he built the tool he wished the committee had.
How we protect data
Strong security shouldn’t require an in-house IT department. We build protections into our software from the start. Here’s how we approach it, with Sextant Gov as the example.
Stronger sign-in
We favor modern sign-in, such as passkeys or your organization’s single sign-on, over passwords.
In Sextant Gov: passkeys only, so there’s no password to phish, reuse or leak.
Public and private, by design
We work with you to define what should be public, what must stay private and who can access it, then build those decisions into the software.
In Sextant Gov: the plan is public, but names, emails and phone numbers are hidden from anyone not signed in, and each town’s records are kept separate.
Security from the first line of code
Credentials never live in the code, every change is scanned for leaked secrets before it ships, and dependencies are watched for known vulnerabilities.
In Sextant Gov: uploaded files are checked before use, and changes and access decisions are recorded with who made them.
Meet the founder
Timothy Adams
Founder, Engineer & Security Lead
Tim Adams is a West Point graduate and former Army officer who brings an operations perspective to secure software development. During nine and a half years in uniform, he led teams and helped plan and coordinate military operations around the world, working through ambiguity in complex environments where protecting information was essential to the mission.
After the Army, he spent four and a half years as a senior software engineer at Amentum, building applications that automated business processes, governed access, and replaced cumbersome manual workflows. He founded Meridian Data to bring those experiences together: making sense of complex problems, building software people can depend on, and treating security as part of the design from the start.
In the news: Tim discussed the need for staff training to protect sensitive information when using AI tools. — Kennebec Journal, July 2025
